Elsevier is a global information analytics business that helps institutions and professionals progress science, advance healthcare and improve research performance and outcomes. Based in the Netherlands, Elsevier is also the world’s leading publisher of science and health information and serves more than 30 million scientists, students, and health and information professionals worldwide. This presentation will focus on the key artificial intelligence capabilities and expertise in Elsevier, that help drive all of our platforms with novel solutions in content classifications, recommendations, information extraction, linking and question answering. It will also discuss some of the open challenges in these areas, suggesting some novel future research work directions to address them.
Dr. George Tsatsaronis is Vice President of Data Science at the Operations division of Elsevier, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Prior to joining Elsevier in 2016 he worked in academia for more than 10 years, doing research and teaching in the fields of machine learning, natural language processing and bioinformatics in universities in Greece, Norway and Germany. He has published more than 60 scientific articles in high impact peer review journals and conference proceedings in various areas of artificial intelligence, primarily natural language processing and text mining.
